Galveston, TX

Galveston is known to be a sort of coastal resort which is located on the island of Galveston in the state of Texas the United States. The community which is at a 209.3 estimated square miles had a total population of 50,180 as at the year 2015. Not only is Galveston one of the second largest municipalities, behind Houston in the state of Texas, it is also known to be a county seat. The very first European settlements in Galveston was in the year 1816 which was the French Pirate known as Louis Michel Aury. The settlements were mainly built with the main aim of helping the Republic of Mexico fight off Spain. The city was also known to be the main part of the Texas Navy which was throughout the entire Texas revolution that was taking place.

In the 19th century, the city of Galveston was able to become one of the major commercial centers in the United States as well as the biggest ports. However, the city was hit by the 1900 Galveston hurricane which damaged a lot of property and caused a storm surge and serious flooding. The natural disaster which took place is still said to be one of the deadliest hurricanes that have ever taken place in the history of the United States.
